Section 5: INSTALLATION CHECKLIST AND SUPPLIES
Cooling Checklist (reference Installation Manual Section 3)
Mix 3 Liters ethylene glycol with 3 Liters distilled water in glycol reservoir
Connect glycol reservoir to coolant service ports before connecting J2 Cable to Control J-Box
Connect J2 cable to Control Box and fill/purge glycol circuit per Section 3.4 of Installation Manual
Connect sea water to heat exchanger and test sea water pump
Verify 2 GPM (8 LPM) sea water flow through heat exchanger under all operating conditions of the
boat.
Startup Checklist (reference Installation Manual Section 4 and Operation Manual Section 2)
Turn on 24 VDC circuit breaker
Turn on 230 VAC circuit breaker
Verify display works and no alarms
Follow instructions in Section 4.1 of Installation Manual to set speed to 1000 rpm
Verify sea water pump turns on when RUN is depressed on keypad
Follow instructions in Section 4.1 of Installation Manual to set speed to 9700 rpm
“Run” lamp should flash as Gyro increases to 7500 rpm
“Run” lamp should be steady above 7500 rpm
To activate Gyro stabilization, press SEA button on Keypad
Gyro is free to move in Sea mode, Press LOCK button to apply brake and stop stabilization
To turn off the Gyro, press LOCK button to stop stabilization, then press STOP button to turn off the
motor
DC power always stays on except when service is performed
AC power and sea water pump may be turned off after STOP button is depressed. The time delay
relay will keep DC power on to the gyro control box and the glycol pump for 1.5 hrs and then turn
DC power off.
Gyro takes 3+ hours to coast down to zero rpm from full speed
