SCOTTY DA-42 MPP Rack
4.2 Fault Isolation
1. Go through the troubleshooting steps defined in the “DA-42 MPP Rack
Maintenance Manual”, part number SD205864A.
4.2.1 Boot Up Issues
If the system does not boot up, check following points:
1. Check the power LED of the computer system.
2. Check if the computer display is powered and switched on.
3. If Windows starts to boot up, but then the display gets dark, try to press
CTRL+ALT+F1.
4. Recover the PC system, see “DA-42 MPP Rack Maintenance Manual”.
4.2.2 Connection Issues
The EMSHSD software makes it easy to isolate faults on a sub-system basis.
1. Check the Fault LED of the SATCOM transceiver. If it is red, check the
INMARSAT transceiver with the EMSHSD Terminal window (see
transceiver manual).
2. In the EMSHSD software, check the “C/No” indication.
3. If “C/No” if low, check the IRS information displayed in the EMSHSD
“Flight Information” filed with the aircraft’s IRS data. Please note that
the EMSHSD software displays true heading, not magnetic heading.
4. If a deviation in the IRS data exists, the IRS system could be the
problem. See chapter 6 Calibration for next steps.
5. If no IRS data are displayed, check the IRS subsystem.
6. If IRS data are OK, but C/No is low, use the “Satellite” information
displayed in the EMSHSD software, and check that a visible satellite is
selected, and that azimuth and elevation are pointing towards open sky.
7. If IRS data are OK, but C/No is low, check the antenna subsystem.
8. If “C/No” is OK, check the “Status” of the channels.
9. If Status indicates “no dial”, check the INMARSAT transceiver with the
EMSHSD Terminal window (see transceiver manual).
