Telum GE-QT User’s Guide
Electronic-Keying (E-Keying)
E-Keying is an AdvancedTCA management layer that performs the following:
•
Inventories the Field Replaceable Units (FRUs) in the shelves of a system
•
Monitors the FRUs basic health
•
Manages the FRUs power, cooling and interconnect resources
The MMC contains Telum GE-QT E-keying data that the Shelf Manager uses. The PICMG IPMI
specification defines the necessary extensions to implement E-keying. The Link characteristics
define the special characteristics of the Telum GE-QT. Telum GE-QT E-keying extension include:
•
The Telum GE-QT FRU header, area, and product area records (shown in Table 5) provide
module-specific information to the shelf and can be read at any time.
•
Telum GE-QT FRU multi-records (shown in Table 6) are read by the shelf at initialization as part
of the E-keying process. They are used to determine compatibility with the shelf.
•
The Telum GE-QT also uses two AMC link descriptors listed in Table 7. The shelf determines
which one of these descriptors represents the desired configuration for the board interface and
selects that configuration using the
Set Port State IPMI
command.
