Note that the safety latches are spring-loaded and will close automatically.

Lift up on the safety latch with one hand and slide the sling strap onto the
support hook with your other hand. The safety latch will spring closed,
trapping the sling strap inside the support hook.
The safety latch must be
completely closed as shown below

Do NOT attempt a transfer if the support hook safety
latches are not completely closed. The sling strap MUST
be trapped inside the support hook to prevent the person
from falling and sustaining possible injuries.
Both latches must
be completely
closed as shown.
