If the function block is to implement the functionality of a typical On / Off switch (1-bit
object type), then the first and second value of the “FB 1: switch – Short pressing”
communication object should be set as follows: “Short pressing: value 1” = On, “Short
pressing: value 2” = Off.
Long pressing: object type
– data type for the “FB 1: switch – Long pressing”
communication object. It defines the range within which the object values can be defined
(1-bit / 1-byte / 1-byte – percentage / 4-bit – dimming control / 4-bit – shutter control; the
same as for short press).
Long pressing: value 1
– value that the “FB 1: switch – Long pressing” communication
object will assume in response to the first / odd long press of button in the “Control
channel” (1-bit: Off / On (0 / 1); 1-byte: 0-255; 1-byte – percentage: 0…100 %; 4-bit -
dimming control: 100…1% Brighter, Stop dimming, 1…100% Darker; 4-bit – shutter
control: 100…1% Up, Stop, 1…100% Down).
Long pressing: value 2
– value that the “FB 1: switch – Long pressing” communication
object will assume in response to the second / even long button press in the “Control
channel” (1-bit: Off / On (0 / 1); 1-byte: 0-255; 1-byte – percentage: 0…100 %; 4-bit -
dimming control: 100…1% Brighter, Stop dimming, 1…100% Darker; 4-bit – shutter
control: 100…1% Up, Stop, 1…100% Down).
4.5.2 Edge (monostable switch)
Makes it possible to control switching / value transmitting by using the rising edge / falling
edge events. In response to occurrence of these events, the “FB 1: edge – Rising/falling (1-
bit)” communication object can send an “ON” / “OFF” telegram to the KNX bus. If the “1-byte
– percentage”, “4-bit – dimming control” or “4-bit – shutter control” option is selected in the
“Object type” field, the object can send telegrams with values defined in the “Value for rising
edge” and “Value for falling edge” fields. Depending on the selected type, the object
implement the functionality of monostable switch (1-bit object -

) or value transmitter
(e.g. 1-byte object -
Fig. 11-II
) controlled by the rising / falling edge events.
