Can I forward an e-mail with attachments?
You can forward an existing e-mail with an attachment from your
TV and PC. However, there currently is a problem when forwarding
an e-mail message using your address book because the
attachment is stripped off. The attachment is not stripped off if you
manually type in the address of the person you want to forward the
e-mail with an attachment to.
How many e-mail messages can I store? Is there a limit?
There is a 5 megabyte size limit of how much space you can have
to store your e-mails. However, since e-mail messages vary in size,
there is no actual maximum number of e-mails that you can store.
Can I view a PowerPoint file or an Excel worksheet?
No, PowerPoint or Excel files can not be viewed on Max Mail.
What are limitations of using Internet or my Max Mail on my
TV?
Not all content available on the Internet over your PC is available
when browsing the Internet via your TV. Some main reasons are
because you are unable to download, store or run certain online
content over the Set Top Box Browser and TV. The limitations
include: streaming content, archived information, games, chat
rooms, software applications (i.e. Word Processing, Spread Sheets
(EXCEL), PowerPoint, etc.) and Java/Flash scripts that require
“plugins” to be installed on the Set Top Box.
TV & PC:
Why does my user name show up as my e-mail address?
Your user name shows up as your e-mail address because of the
way the Max Mail box is set up. The e-mail address field is
automatically set to the user name as a default. There is no need
to worry about security issues as this is just a characteristic of the
software used and does not mean that anyone can access your
account information. You are able to change the ‘Options’ and
have your e-mail address, instead of user name, show up when an
e-mail is sent.
I received an e-mail over my PC and now I cannot see it
over my TV or my friend’s PC. Why?
If an e-mail account is created on Outlook Express or Netscape
messenger and set up as pop account, when you read an e-mail,
the message downloads onto the PC and is no longer on the mail
server. If you set up the e-mail account as IMAP account, the
message will not be downloaded on the PC and remains on the mail
server. Most Internet service providers, including Sympatico,
provide only POP mail accounts.
Can I get a virus while checking my e-mails?
No, you will not get a virus while checking your e-mails because
SaskTel has implemented anti-virus protection software.
