WHAT IS MAX?
Why would I want Max?
Max offers digital television and sound, High Speed Internet and e-
mail on your TV and PC, unique TV web pages with local news,
weather, and entertainment, digital music and radio, an Interactive
TV Guide plus access to the biggest, best ever movies and events.
Is it true that a TV and a PC can be used simultaneously by
two Internet users who are accessing it for different
purposes?
One of the main benefits of Max is that the telephone, TVs, and PC
can all be used at the same time for different uses. For example, a
TV and the PC could access different web sites at the same time
while someone else uses the phone. This integrated service will act
no different than the individual services offered today as well as it
provides more options.
How many TVs and/or PCs can be hooked up to the service?
A SaskTel installer will hook up your Max service to a maximum of
four TV’s and one PC. For unique viewing on each TV, one set-top
box per TV is required. If you would like service on more than one
television, then another set-top box with remote control must be
rented from SaskTel.
Can I view local information on my TV?
Yes, by accessing ‘My City’ on the Max Home Page. Here you will
find TV friendly web pages with an abundance of current local
information. There is also an option called ‘Internet’, which takes
you to a TV friendly version of mysask.com. This site contains
information on Saskatchewan and worldwide.
If I can surf the Internet with my TV, why do I need a PC?
•
A computer will still be required to run software
applications, such as spreadsheets and word processing
programs.
•
Max Mail is limited to certain types of attachments.
Attached files that require downloading (i.e. spreadsheets)
cannot be retrieved from the TV.
•
There are plug-in and language limitations of the set-top
box (i.e. you cannot download an MP3).
Why would I want Internet on my TV?
•
Many people do not own a PC, but want access to the
Internet in their home.
•
It is very easy and convenient. Unlike PCs, software
installation is not required.
•
Allows for multiple Internet accessible devices in the
household. One person can still use the Internet over the
TV, even if the PC is in use by someone else.
