VOLTAGE REDUCTION DEVICE (VRD)
The 160P unit is equipped with a Voltage Reduction Device circuit that when enabled lowers
the Open Circuit Voltage (OCV) in STICK mode. This function is used in applications where a high
OCV in STICK mode is dangerous or applications where a lower OCV would be advantageous. The
185AP and 200AP units are shipped from the factory with the VRD in the disabled mode. To utilize
the VRD, the user must enable the VRD function.

once the welding current has stopped.
7.2
SWITCHING VRD ON/OFF
Switch the machine OFF.

Remove the clear plastic protection cover from the front panel (see Figure 7-1).
•
Lift up the cover so it rests on the top of the unit.
•
Place a small flat bladed screw driver between the cover hinges on the front panel.
•
Gently lift the cover hinge out of the front cover mounting hole.
•
Remove the control’s clear plastic cover.
