1 Introduction
The Sandberg USB 3.0 Hard Disk Box 3.5"
(referred to as "the box") allows you to connect
a SATA hard disk externally to your computer.
The USB 3.0 connection enables you to achieve
impressive data transfer speeds of up to 5
Gbit/sec. This is ideal, especially when you want
to move large amounts of data and carry out
frequent backups. The hard disk is easy and
quick to fit into the box, meaning you can use
it within minutes.
2 Fitting a hard disk
1) Unscrew the back panel of the box with a
screwdriver.
2) Remove the hard disk tray from the box.
3) Connect the SATA connectors on the printed
circuit board to the corresponding connector
on your hard disk and click the hard disk into
place on the tray.
4) Use the screws provided to fasten the hard
disk into the four screw holes.
5) Make sure that the corners on the hard disk
tray are flush with the box and push it carefully
into the box.
6) Screw the back panel on with the two screws
you removed in step 1.
3 Installation
3.1 Installation in Windows
®
1. Start your computer in Windows.
2. Connect the enclosed power supply between
the box’s power connector and a mains socket.
Turn on the box using the switch on the back
panel of the box.
3. Connect the enclosed USB cable between the
box’s USB 3.0 port and a USB port on your
computer.
4. Windows finds the hard disk itself and creates
a new drive. You can use this drive in the
same way as any other drive on your
computer.
3.2 Installation in MAC OS
1. Start your MAC.
2. Connect the enclosed power supply between
the box’s power connector and a mains socket.
Turn on the box using the switch on the back
panel of the box.
3. Connect the enclosed USB cable between the
box’s USB 3.0 port and a USB port on your
MAC.
4. The dialog box “Do you want to use “(null)”
for backup with Time Machine?” appears.
5. Click “Cancel” if you do not want to use the
hard disk for backup. A new drive is created
on your computer. You can use this drive in
the same way as any other drive on your
computer.
6. Click “OK” if you want to use the hard disk
for backup with the Time Machine software.

NOTE: The box must be connected to a USB 3.0
port on your computer in order to achieve
optimal speed.
