- Optimal angle of cutterbar in relation to the ground should be between 0° and 5°. With inclination
bigger than 5° minor unevenness in mowed grass is likely. It slightly impairs attractiveness of
stubble after mowing however has hardly any impact on mower's operation. With inclination of
the cutterbar to the other side quality of mowing is significantly impaired and in extreme
situations the mower is completely unable to operate. What is more, this may lead to damaging
slides and cutterbar.
- Too high a tractor's PTO rpm cause major air swirls which bow the grass against discs, and this
lead straight to impairing mowing quality.
- Too low a tractor's PTO rpm cause impairing of mowing quality, and in extreme cases the mower
stops operating (due to low line speed of knife).
- In case of mowing low grasses head guard should be lifted in order to reduce air blows which are
generated on discs and also reduce the guard's pressure onto grass being cut.
- On soft meadows reduce the cutterbar's pressure onto the ground by adjusting support springs.
NOTE:
Improperly relieved cutting unit of the mower will cause increase of
cutterbar pressure on the ground which will lead to faster wear of sliding
skids, overload of cutterbar, higher fuel consumption, damage to the stubble
and contamination of the fodder.
5.6.2. Mower clogging
When operating the mower pay attention to variable conditions on field, which may influence the
mower clog, such as: terrain unevenness, height and density of grass as well as other objects in the
grass. In order to avoid clogging, mowing speed should be adjusted to the mentioned conditions. In
order to remove the machine clogging, cutterbar should be lowered onto the ground while the drive
must be disconnected with ignition key off.
5.6.3. Driving with mower over windrows when taking turns
Lift the cutterbar by means of hydraulic cylinder (2) (Fig. 2a) and take a turn.
5.7.
Storing machine
The mower should be stored on paved surface, under dry, roofed place to protect it from
precipitations.
