Operation
• Setting of
automatic tray
parameter:
- the fax machine selects the tray with the paper best suited to the fax size, i.e. the number of
lines; if the number of lines is unknown, the machine selects the tray with the longest sheets
(Legal, A4 then Letter). Any tray containing incompatible paper will be ignored. If no tray
contains compatible paper, the printer will turn to
"PAPER INCOMPATIBLE"
error
condition.
• In automatic tray mode:
- the tray can be changed for each page of the received fax in case the pages have different
lengths.
• Fax reduction mode - between 70% and 100%:
- fixed or automatic reduction enabling the fax to be printed on a single page.
• Discard Size parameter - 1 cm or 3 cm:
- enables the end of a received page to be ignored if less than 1 or 3 cm are still to be printed,
which will prevent a second page from being used.
Default tray for PC printing (option)
In PC printing mode, whatever the tray setting on the terminal, the selection made in the PC printer
properties will prevail.
The PC driver will indicate the following to the terminal:
• which tray to use for printing: upper, lower, auto,
• the format of each page: A4, Letter, A5, B5, ...
Your terminal will select the tray requested by the PC, except if the "Auto tray" option is requested: in
that case, your terminal will select the default tray by itself according to the "Default tray" parameter
setting, i.e. upper, lower or auto, which will come to select the last tray used on the previous printing
session.
The format transmitted for each page by the PC is not taken into account for tray selection; this
information is only used for setting the printer parameters (should the requested format and the format
physically available be conflicting, the printer will display the error).
