11.2. FENDERS
The CREO SL is compatible with “Plug & Play” fenders. For best functionality we recommend our Specialized Dry
Tech 35c fenders.
INSTALLING FENDERS
The CREO SL frame is designed for maximum tire clearance. As a result, the carbon frames do not have a chainstay
or seatstay bridge, which are generally used to attach fenders. In order to mount fenders on a CREO SL carbon
frame, the use of a custom seat tube mounted bracket to mimic the seatstay bridge and an extra long spacer to
mount the fender at the bottom bracket area are required.

CARBON: Install the bracket on the seat tube. The vertical position on the seat tube will vary depending on the
size of the frame. For smaller sizes, the bracket may have to be positioned above the seatstays. The fender can
connect against the upper or lower surface of the bracket. To install on alloy frames, use the supplied shim. (fig
11.7)
ALLOY: The frame features a seat stay bridge with threaded insert to allow direct fender attachment at this point
(Fig 11.8).
At the chainstay, place a spacer between the bottom bracket and the fender. For alloy frames, use the 5mm long
spacer. For carbon frames, use the 10mm spacer. When mounting the fenders, the intended result is to have
equal spacing (more than 6mm) between the tire and fender along the entire circumference of the fender (fig
11.9).
For additional information about installing Plug N Play fenders, please refer to the Plug N Play user manual.
To protect the seat tube paint finish, we recommend applying a layer of mylar adhesive between the fender
bracket and the seat tube.
The maximum tire size when using fenders is 700x32c.
11.3. RACK
Your Creo SL can also be outfitted with a rear rack. All frames feature mounting tabs at the dropouts to support the
vertical rack stays. To attach the rack at the top, especially on carbon frames, you need to upgrade your bicycle with
our dedicated “”SEAT CLAMP WITH RACK MOUNT”” (Service Part Number: S184700001).
This allows attaching a horizontal rack strut to stabilize the rack. Please ask your Authorized Specialized Retailer
about that clamp and compatible racks. When loading your rack, do not exceed the cargo weight limits stated in the
Owner’s Manual Appendix A (RIDER/BIKE WEIGHT LIMITS AND TERRAIN CONDITIONS).
11.4. LIGHTING
Through your Authorized Specialized Retailer, your Creo SL can be upgraded with a light splitter cable that adds
connections for front and rear lights (Service Part Number: S196800022 ). It connects to the TCU inside the top
tube and provides the following output data: 12V only, 8W / 650 mA max. Note that your Creo frame allows easy
routing of the front light cable only. There is no dedicated exit port for a rear light cable, We recommend using a
battery powered rear light like our Flux or Stix taillights. The installation of wired lights should be performed by your
Authorized Specialized Retailer.
