Congratulations on the purchase of your Russell Hobbs Espresso Maker. Each unit is 
manufactured to ensure safety and reliability. Before using this appliance for the first time, 
please read this instruction booklet carefully and keep it for future reference. Pass it on if 
you pass on the Espresso Maker.

When using your Espresso Maker, basic safety precautions should be followed.

Carefully remove all contents from the box. As some parts may be packed separately, 
check to ensure all items have been removed from the packaging before disposal.

INSTALLATION

‡

Place the espresso maker on flat, stable surface.

‡

Ensure the ON/OFF switch is set to the

 OFF

 position. 

‡

Connect the plug to the wall power outlet and switch the outlet on.

FILLING THE WATER TANK

‡

To remove the water tank simply lift upwards off the espresso maker.

‡

Fill the tank with water at the sink.

‡

Do not exceed the 

MAX

 level on the water tank.

‡

The tank may also be filled without removing it, simply by pouring water into it directly 
from a jug.

‡

Refit the tank by sliding it down onto the guides at the rear of the espresso maker ensuring 
that the valve at the bottom of the tank is located on the water inlet valve of the appliance.

NOTE: Do not operate the espresso maker without water in the tank. Always remember to 
top up the water tank with water to keep the water level above the MIN level.

BEFORE FIRST USE

When using this Espresso Maker for the first time, it is very important to flush the unit and 
prime the pump.

Fill water tank to 

MAX

 level mark.

‡

Fit and tighten filter holder in place (refer to the “

INSTALLING THE FILTER HOLDER

” 

section).

‡

Place a container under the filter holder to catch water.

‡

Ensure ALL switches are in the outermost position.

‡

Connect the plug to the wall power outlet and switch the outlet on.

‡

Press the ON/OFF switch to the 

ON

 position.

‡

Whilst in 

 

 (coffee) mode, press the pump START/STOP switch to 

START

.

‡

The pump will start and water from the tank will flow through the system and out of the 
filter holder spouts. Watch that the container under the filter holder doesn’t overflow.

‡

If necessary, press the pump START/STOP switch to stop the pump, then empty container 
and continue the procedure until the water tank level nears the 

MIN

 level mark.

‡

Refill the tank.
