11.3 SAW SAFETY EQUIPMENT
This saw is equipped with a mechanical brake to stop the chain rotation when kickback
occurs during the cutting operation.
The brake is automatically actuated by an inert
force acting on the weight inside the front guard.
This brake can also be applied manually with the
front buffer pushed towards the guide bar. To
release the brake, pull the front fender up towards
the front handle until you hear a "click". (Fig. 22)

If the brake is not effective, ask your dealer for an inspection and repair. The engine, if
kept at high revs with the brake engaged, will overheat the coupling causing damage.
When the brake is applied while driving immediately take your finger off the throttle lever
and stop the engine.
11.4 AIR FILTER
The air filter is optically inspected every 30 hours of operation. If soiled, wash with warm
soapy water and allow to dry naturally. Do not wash it with petrol or blow it out with the
compressor. If it is punctured replace it as there is a risk of dust and sawdust particles
scratching the cylinder and piston.
If it is badly worn or oil stained replace it.
Loosen the screw securing the air filter.
Loosen the screw-flute and remove the air filter housing.
Pull out the air filter and remove the deposited sawdust.
