Safety distance
Space in front of the fireplace
For solid-fuel fireplaces, a floor plate or fireproof flooring
must be placed in front of the door and extend
outwards by at least 40 cm. The plate should extend
widthways at least 40 cm from either end of the fireplace
door.
This rule is applicable for all Rüegg fireplaces.
Hot air outlets
No inflammable materials or articles (such as furniture or
a wooden ceiling) should be within 30 cm widthways and
50 cm above the hot air vents.
Radiant heat zone
Make sure that any inflammable articles are separated
from the front of the fireplace by a space of at least
X cm above, in front and to the sides. This can be
reduced to cm if a fully-ventilated heat radiation shield
has been fitted.
Make sure that the there is always a distance of at least 5
cm between the external surfaces of the facing of the
open fireplace and any inflammable elements. This gap
should allow enough air to circulate to prevent heat build-
up.
