PANEL CONTROLS
Pushbuttons
When the ON button is pressed, the phone line is
seized
and the
system sends a burst
of
white noise down the line, allowing the
hybrid to adapt to the phone line prior to the
start
of
conversation.
During
this
time, the outputs
are
muted.
At the conclusion of the
period, the output
is
and the conversation
may
proceed.
When the
OFF
button
is
pressed, the phone line
is
released.
The
AUTO
button is a momentary button that, when a "Super"
Auto-answer board
is
installed, toggles the unit
in
and out
of
the
auto
mode. Its accompanying
LED
indicator
illuminates when in
auto
mode.
(If
the
"Super" Auto-answer board
is
not installed, this button and
LED
is
brought to the rear panel
remote connector and may be used for any desired external
function.)
Output Processing:
Override
This
pushbutton engages
two independent
functions:
the
culler
ducking
and the
ducking
function. In most broadcast
applications, you will find that engaging the override function
results in better overall performance.
Caller
Ducking
This
function operates in
the caller audio path. When active,
there is approximately
6
dB
of
ducking applied to the caller audio
when
the
announcer speaks. However, very little change in caller
level will be noticed due to the very high speed operation
of
the
duck function and the
provided by the presence
of
the
send
audio.
