1. Soak the new saw chain overnight in chain oil (sold separately).
2. Disengage the chain brake by pulling up on the chain brake lever.
3. Loosen the two nuts, then loosen the chain by turning the chain tension screw
counterclockwise until the saw chain is loose.
4. Remove the drive cover by unthreading the two nuts from the mounting bolts.
5. Disengage the tensioning pin (connected to the tensioning screw) by tilting the bottom of
the guide bar up and away from the chain saw before step 6.
6. Push the guide bar toward the sprocket to further loosen the saw chain.
7. Remove the saw chain from the guide bar first and then from the sprocket.
NOTICE:
Always check the condition of the sprocket when replacing the chain. The sprocket
should be replaced if it shows signs of wear or is damaged. If needed, have the sprocket
replaced and the bearings greased by a qualified technician.
8. Flip the guide bar over before mounting the new saw chain. This will ensure that the guide
bar wears evenly over time. Line up the tension pin with the hole in the guide bar when
fitting the guide bar in place.
9. Place the new saw chain around the sprocket,
then over the guide bar. Make sure the cutters of
the saw chain are facing away from the chain saw along the top edge of the guide bar. Fit
the chain in the groove all around the guide bar.
10. Replace the drive cover, being careful to line up the mounting bolts with the mounting bolt
holes.
11. Finger tighten the nuts, then tension the saw chain following the steps in the setup section
“Tensioning the saw chain”.
Cylinder fins
After use, dust the cylinder fins to prevent clogging which can
cause the engine to overheat.
Air filter maintenance

1. Wipe the top of the air filter cover of dust and debris.
2. Unthread the knob holding the air filter cover in place.
3. Remove the air filter cover and the air filter.
4. Inspect the filter for possible tears and replace if damaged.
