The SFP-HDB-IO-3G is an electrical SFP Transceiver module designed to transmit and receive SDI signals up to
2.97Gbps over 75

coaxial cables over 75

HD-BNC connectors. Cable driver provides two selectable slew rates
in order to achieve compliance to SMPTE 424M/SMPTE 292M and SMPTE 259M. Equalizer features DC
restoration to compensate for the DC content of SMPTE pathological test patterns. The Auto-sleep feature
automatically enables the equalizer power Save Mode when no input signal is detected.

Module Installation
The module is simply inserted, small end first, under manual pressure. Controlled hot plugging is ensured by
design. The module housing makes initial contact with the router board EMI shield, mitigating potential damage
due to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). The SFP-HDB-IO-3G is compatible with ESD levels specified in IEC
61000-4-2 . In normal handling, manipulation and operation, ESD is of concern in two circumstances:
• During handling of the transceiver prior to insertion into an SFP+ /SFP compliant cage. To protect the device,
please use normal ESD precautions. These include use of grounded wrist straps, work-benches and ESD floor.
• Static discharges to the exterior of the host equipment chassis after installation.
