Module Tags
Name Conventions
The module tags use defined naming conventions. The conventions are as
follows:
• Module name
• Slot number
• Tag type and channel number—If Generic ASCII or Modbus Slave is used
in the Module Definition for the channel.
• Tag type, channel number, and number of connections—If Modbus
Master is used in the Module Definition for the channel.
• Parameter
Generic ASCII and Modbus Slave Name Conventions
The following is an example for a Generic ASCII or Modbus Slave tag name. The
conventions for the example, ‘SERIAL_PROJECT:1:I0.RunMode’, would be
the following:
• SERIAL_PROJECT= name of the module
• 1 = slot number
• I0 = tag type (input) and channel number (0)
– The possible tag types are I (input) and O (output)
– The possible channel numbers are 0 or 1
• RunMode = Parameter
