5.4 Career
Career mode simulates combat duty for pilots of the First World War. Career mode
is built on the automatic generation of missions based on historical mission types
and the location of the various squadrons during WWI. You need to select the
aircraft type, year, and the country you will fight for. You begin a career with the
most junior rank in the role of a wingman of one of the flights in the squadron. As
you successfully carry out your assignments, you will move up in rank and earn
medals and awards from your superiors. Upon reaching a certain rank you will be
able to command your entire flight during the mission. Your Career will end if your
pilot was killed in action, you successfully complete your tour of duty at the front
lines or the actual end date for WWI arrives which is November 11, 1918.
Career mode is divided into time periods called flight days. There could be several
missions flown during each flight day. Flight days are skipped if you pilot was
injured or wounded. The length of each career varies and depends on the
