SYMPTOM
SC990 occurs under the following conditions:
-
RFU is performed via @Remote or FTP while the machine is in Sleep mode.
-
Streamline NX is installed on the machine.
-
The firmware being updated is relatively small (for example, PCL firmware).
Note:
It has been confirmed that the symptom does not occur when updating large
firmware such as the System/Copy, Engine, or OpePanel firmware.
CAUSE
Due to a Java VM bug, Java VM will not start up correctly if the device is rebooted while an
SDK application is starting up. As a result, when RFU is performed, Streamline NX has not
finished starting up when the machine reboots itself following the firmware update.
Note:
-
The time that Streamline NX requires to boot up is much longer than that of
other SDK applications.
-
WIM, Remote Communication Gate S Pro (UZ-S), and Device Manager NX
Pro/Enterprise (Birdie-S/E), Streamline NX use different processes for RFU,
which is why the symptom does not occur when performing the RFU using these
methods.
SOLUTION
If the symptom occurs:
Update the
Java
firmware to the versions mentioned in the “Fixed F/W release”
below or newer.
Until then, do the following procedure:
Models that store the Java F/W in an SD card:
1. Shut down the machine.
2. Move the Java SD card to another slot and boot up the machine.
3. Wait until the machine is completely booted and then shut down the machine.
4. Move the Java card to the original slot and reboot the machine.
Models that store the Java F/W in the Flash Memory on the Controller board:
1. Shut down the machine.
2. Disconnect the HDD and boot up the machine.
3. Wait until the machine is completely booted up, and then shut down the
machine.
4. Connect the HDD to and boot up the machine.
