Working with the device in ALL METAL mode
:
The display shows on the 1
st
row on the LCD
ALL METAL
(if work in
ALL METAL
mode),
and on the 2
nd
row
– ground balance level (or discrimination level if work in
DISC
mode),
mode
–
Static
or
Dynamic
, level of the threshold, and state of the battery.
1
st
row of the display is graphical indicator of the level for more comfortable tracking of the
changes in the signal in
ALL METAL
mode.
Increase
“
THRESHOLD
” until you hear audible pulse warning (pop). Click for 1-2 sec
TUNE
button and then relax. The sound disappears and graphic indicator of the first row is
returned to zero position in
ALL METAL
mode, or in middle position in
DISC
mode. Hold for
a few seconds the coil / frame above the ground. If the sound signal is changed (increased),
lower values of
THRESHOLD
carefully, until the sound signal disappears or stays to hear
the sound "pop" with a low frequency.
Operator manualy can eliminate influence of the soil, ceramics, stones, hot rocks with
GND /
DISC
knob. In
ALL METAL
mode, this knob working as ground balance control.
Lower the search frame/coil to within one-inch of the ground surface while listening to the
threshold audio signal. If the threshold signal increase, the
“
GND/DISC
” control needs to
be increased
– to high position. At the same time, you can increase
DELAY
too, to high
position. When
DELAY
knob is in low to middle positions (1-5), detector will give you the
greatest sensitivity of any object detected. In high positions (5-10), you can minimize the
effects due to highly mineralized soils, stones, old ceramics. Holding the coil higher will
helps to reduce ground effects as well.
Keep repeating this step while the sound signal is no change in the approach to the
ground surface
.
Once this is accomplished, the
VEGA
is properly ground balanced and
ready to use.
While balancing the detector, you have to be sure there are no metal objects around the
search coil.
Should within the coil range there falls in a metal object, it provokes a signal which is
depicted on the level of the graphical indicator. At the same time a sound is heard with a
frequency which depends on the level of the signal. The more louder the signal, the more
