Maintenance / Maintenance Instructions for the Specialist Dealer
We recommend that the complete wheelchair is inspected by a specialist dealer at least once per year. In the
event of malfunctions or defects on the weelchair it must be immediately given to the specialist dealer for re-
pair.
We recommend that the product be treated in a correct and proper manner and that it be maintained in
accordance with the instructions. Rehaforum Medical GmbH accepts no liability whatsoever for damage caused
by components and spare parts which have not been approved by Rehaforum Medical GmbH . Repairs must be
carried out by specialist dealers only.
If you notice unusual brake behaviour, inform your specialist dealer immediately and take the wheelchair out of
use.
Do not use a defective wheelchair!
Squeaking sounds point to damage and should be investigated by a specialist dealer.
Independent Travel and Braking
Carry out your first trial journies carefully in an even area with the aid of an assistant until you have accustomed
yourself to you new wheelchair. Only following a lot of practice may you join in publict road traffic. You must be
especially careful when ascemding or descending slopes or overcoming obstacles.
The wheelchair is moved and braked via the hand rim, in doing so, the hand is placed on the hand rim whereby
only the thumbs and the bent index fingers are in contact with the hand rim. The other fingers are made into a
fist and do not come into contact with the hand rim.
To brake, the hand rim is allowed to slip between the thumbs and the bent index fingers and braked to a stand-
still by a steadily tightening grip.
Attention: When propelling the wheelchair ensure that you do not touch the tyres with the thumbs.
Risk of trapping between the tyres and the side pieces / armrests!
To steer the wheelchair, the hand rim on the side to which one wishes to steer or turn is braked.
To turn on the spot, one hand pushes forward and the other hand pushes backward at the same time.
Getting In and Out - Sideways
The wheelchair provides you with the possibility of getting in and out in a simple way. The footrests, footplates
and the armrests can be folded up and / or swivelled. Bring the wheelchair and the present and future seats as
close together as is possible.
By operating the right and left-hand brake levers, secure the wheelchair against unintended rolling way and
swivel the armrests upwards and the footrests outwards with the foot plates folded up (where necessary, on
both wheelchairs if you wish to move from one wheelchair into another one).
Now slide sideways onto the seat and in doing so ensure that you are sitting as far back as possible on the seat.
Then return the armrests and footrests to their original positions.
Getting In and Out - from the Front
Fold up the foot plates and swivel the footrests outwards out of the way.
Bring the wheelchair and future seat as close as possible to each other head-on and secure the wheels via the
parking brake. By turning the body, slide onto the seat and in doing so ensure that you are sitting as far back as
possible. Then return the armrests and footrests to their original positions and fold the foot plates back down.
Checking of the Wheelchair (before each use)
• Integrity and adequate air pressure of the tyres (with optional pneumatic tyres). Once per month, regularly
check the tread depth of the tyres, this should be at least one millimetre. Defective or worn tyres must be re-
placed.
