3. Insert a handle with the pre-assembled locking loop brake into each handle
tube. Ensure that the brake cables are not crossed.
Slide the bolts through the holes from the inside of the frame and screw on the
tightening knob until secure. Ensure the bolt heads are properly countersunk
within the holes.
5. Remove the protective plastic covering from the tyres.
Folding the Rollator
The rollator is easily folded by lifting the hinge knob and then pushing the rollator
handles together.
Hand Brake Operation
(cable brakes only)
Note: Always engage and disengage brakes on both sides.
1.
To apply the brakes, squeeze both brake handles. This can be used to slow and
stop.
2.
To lock the brakes, push both brake handles down until they snap into place.
To release the locked brakes, squeeze both brake handles upward.
Adjusting the Handle Height
Undo the tightening knob and remove the bolt. Adjust the handle to the desired
height, lining up the holes appropriately. Replace the bolt and screw on the tightening
knob until secure. Ensure the bolt heads are properly countersunk within the holes.
Safety Precautions
•
Ensure the rollator is fully open and the folding hinge is straight to secure the
rollator in the correct position.
•
Ensure both handles are at the same height and that the tightening knobs are fully
tightened. Test the rollator for stability before applying full weight to the handles.
•
Test the brake mechanism (cable brakes only). When the wheels are locked, the
brake pad should prevent the wheels from turning. If the wheels turn while the
brakes are locked, refer to point 4 of Care and Maintenance section for adjustment
instructions. When the brakes are released, the wheels should turn freely.
•
The rollator is a walking aid only and should not be used as a transportation device.
Do not allow anyone to sit on the rollator while it is being pushed.
•
Do not leave the rollator unattended without locking the brakes (cable brakes
only).
•
Do not stop, turn or reverse on a ramp or incline.
•
Do not make sharp turns.
Care and Maintenance
1. The rollator should be inspected before each use to ensure it is free from
damage and excessive wear. Check that:
•
The handgrips are not loose or damaged.
•
The brake cables are not damaged in any way (where applicable).
•
The wheels are securely in place and are not damaged or excessively worn.
•
The frame is not cracked or dented.
•
The frame is secure, stable, and all nuts and bolts are tight.
If you do find any wear or damage to your rollator, DO NOT USE.
2.
Check that all wheels and folding parts move freely.
3.
Keep the rollator clean by wiping with a damp cloth on a regular basis. Do not use
abrasive cleaning materials.
4.
To adjust the position of the brake pad (cable brakes only), undo the lock nut at the
front of the brake handle and rotate the knurled nut. The back of the brake pad
should clear the wheel by approximately 3mm when the brakes are not engaged.
Tighten the lock nut.
5.
If required, only use genuine parts supplied by Performance Health International
