Engine Crankcase Oil
NOTICE
CHECK THAT THE ENGINE IS FILLED WITH OIL
BEFORE FIRST-TIME OPERATION
TO AVOID SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE!
Note that Yahama outboard engines are shipped from the factory
without engine oil. Before starting the engine for the
fi
rst time the
correct type and amouut of oil must be added
(See your outboard
owner’s manual for details before attempting to start the engine).
There is a tag shipped with the engine saying that the engine oil is to
be
fi
lled. This tag should be removed after the engine oil has been
fi
lled for the
fi
rst time. Also, refer to the following pages and/or the
outboard engine owner’s manual for the correct procedures for checking
the engine oil.
Engine Break-In Procedure
Note that your 4 cycle outboard engine requires a period of break-in
for the internal engine parts to wear in properly. Following the break-
in procedure will assist in producing longer engine life and increased
performance. See your outboard owner’s manual for speci
fi
c break-in
procedures for your speci
fi
c model.
NOTICE
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE BREAK-IN PROCDURE
COULD RESULT IN SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE
OR REDUCED ENGINE LIFE CYCLE.
