Safety Information

The guarantee/warranty will expire if damage is incurred resulting from non-
compliance with these operating instructions. We do not assume any liability
for consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for property damage and personal injury
caused by improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In
such cases the warranty/guarantee is voided.

• The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is prohibited for safety and

approval reasons (CE).

• This electric starter is not a toy and not suitable for children under 14 years of age.
• The electric starter must not become damp or wet.
• When handling the electric starter, ensure that no body parts or objects are in the rotating

area of the starter or in the area of the driven shafts or wheels.
There is a danger of injury from improper handling of the product!

• Ensure before starting the motor that the remote control system is switched on, works

properly and the control lever for the throttle function is set to idle.

Battery Notes

• The electric starter must only be operated with two common 6-cell NiMH racing packs (rated

voltage 7.2 V) or two 2-cell LiPo racing packs (rated voltage 7.4 V). Never mix these battery
types!
Never use conventional batteries or a mains adapter to operate the electric starter.

• Batteries do not belong in the hands of children.
• Rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, taken apart or thrown into fire. There is

a danger of explosion!

• Leaking or damaged rechargeable batteries may cause caustic burns if they come into

contact with skin. Therefore you should use suitable protective gloves for this.

• Always observe correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when connecting the rechargeable

batteries.

• If the device is not used for an extended period of time (e.g. storage), remove the racing

packs inserted in the battery box to avoid damage from leaking batteries.

• Recharge the rechargeable batteries about every 3 months. Otherwise, so-called deep

discharge may result, rendering the rechargeable batteries useless.

Product Description

The electric starter’s drive motor is firmly connected to the petrol engine (see following chapter
“Starter Motor Installation”) and remain connected to the petrol engine during the drive as well.
Power to the electric starter is supplied either via two 7.2 V NiMH racing packs or via two
7.4 V LiPo racing packs switched in sequence with the help of the Y-piece adapter. The racing
packs are stored in a special battery box that also contains the connection plug for the starter
motor.
After successful starting, the battery box is disconnected from the electric starter again.

Starting Motor Installation

To install the starting motor, you need to disassemble the present cable pull starter and the
ventilation wheel. Depending on model vehicle, you may have to unscrew side parts that cover
the cable pull starter. If required, you may remove the motor from the model entirely for
retrofitting.

Important!

Since no contamination must enter the starter motor, it is necessary that the petrol
engine or model vehicle is cleared thoroughly before retrofitting.
Use the lug wrench included with the scope of delivery of the vehicle for installation
of the start-up system.

For better overview, the required installation steps are shown using a petrol engine removed
from the model (see figures 2 - 17).
• Remove the four screws of the cable pull starter with a Philips screwdriver (figure 2).
• Remove the four lower screws of the ventilation casing with the 4 mm hexagon socket

screwdriver. Use a Philips screwdriver again for the two upper screws (figure 3).

• Loosen the attachment nut of the magnetic ventilator wheel (figure 4).
• Remove the magnetic ventilator wheel from the crankshaft according to the figure, using the

removal piece.
For this, first turn the large removal piece screw with the centring tip into the removal piece.
The two M6 x 35 hexagon socket screws incl. washers are pushed through the oblong holes
of the removal piece and screwed to the ventilator wheel with the 5 mm hexagon socket
wrench. The removal piece must be aligned so that the centring tip of the removal piece
screw later matches the central bore of the crankshaft precisely (figure 5).

Practical advice:

When you have turned the large removal piece screw with the adjustable wrench
under tension, tap the side of the ventilator wheel slightly with a hammer. The
vibration will make it easier for the ventilator wheel to skip off of the cone.

• Place the starter ventilator wheel from the electric starter set on the crankshaft and screw it

on with the shaft adapter (do not forget the washer from the disassembled ventilator wheel).
Use the special socket wrench with bore for the shaft adapter (figure 6).

Important!

Use medium-tight threadlocker varnish for all screw connections at the engine or
electric starter.

• Screw on the ventilation casing again. Observe that the deactivation switch for the ignition

(see arrow) is placed in the cover correctly (figure 7).

• Attach the starter motor on the shaft adapter according to the figure and tighten the four

spacer bolts only slightly with the adjustable wrench (figure 8).

• The eye of the minus connection line (black cable) is screwed to the top right bolt (figure 9).
• Attach the M8 nut using the special socket wrench (figure 10).
• Adjust the starter motor casing so that the gap between the rotor and the stationary magnetic

ring (see arrow) is the same size all around; tighten the four spacer bolts (figure 11).

• Install the starter cover. Ensure that the motor cable is not clamped (figure 12).
• Iif the motor was removed for retrofitting, it can be returned to the model now. The battery

box is later simply plugged onto the connection plug (see arrow) to start the petrol motor
(figure 13).

• Last, adjust the car body to the new starter casing. Cut it out accordingly.
