Check resistance of heating cable using
an ohmmeter – it should be within 10% of
specifications. If open circuit, cut off joint and repeat
procedure.
The finished joint is shown below.

If repairing a hot-cold joint and reusing 1/2 in (13
mm) or 3/4 in (19 mm) bell-mouth, place a few
drops of a suitable retaining compound (such as
Loctite
®
648) on the inside of the bell-mouth. Slide
bellmouth onto the new joint and let set.
If heat shrink tubing was used above (copper sheath
cables only), follow instructions in Appendix F to
complete heat shrink installation.
