-
Prepare 1000mL of cold water ready to fill the water tank on completion of the test.
-
The water in the water tank will gradually heat up.
Do not leave the water bath unattended during the test.
-
After a period of less than a few minutes (depending on water level), the over-temperature cutout should activate. When the
cutout activates, a small click sound may be heard and the Hot Surface Indicator (element 10 in Figure 1) light will flash. If the
over-temperature cutout has failed to operate within 5 minutes, the test has failed and the water bath should be turned off
immediately to prevent damage to the water bath.
-
Depending on the quality of the water being used, an unpleasant smell may also be noticed as a result of the impurities in the
water becoming hot. This is normal.
-
Once the test has been completed, turn off power to the water bath by setting the On/Off mains power switch (element 6 in
Figure 1) to the up position marked with a circle and refill the water tank with 1,000mL of cold water to cool the element by
referring to the section in this User Manual labeled “Filling The Water Tank”. This will help to maintain the working life of the
heating element.
-
If the over-temperature cutout has failed to operate, contact Ratek using the contact details provided in the section of this
User Manual titled “Ratek Service Contact Information”.
CAUTION
NEVER
operate the water bath if the over-temperature safety cutout test has failed. Operating the water bath without a
functional over-temperature safety cutout may result in serious injury, threat to life, fire or damage to property.
-
Turn off the mains power supply at the outlet.
-
Allow the unit to cool for at least 10 minutes.
-
Refill the water tank by referring to the section in this User Manual labeled “Filling The Water Tank”.
-
Connect power to the water bath by referring to the section in this User Manual labeled “Filling The Water Tank”.
-
If the over-temperature safety cutout test passed, the water bath is now ready to be re-operated as per the section of this
User Manual labeled “Switching On The Water Heating”.
