2.2.2 Functional description
In order to understand the general functional principle of the RACO electrical cylinder, a description of
the complete process when operating the RACO electrical cylinder is given below.

The RACO electrical cylinder is used for the moving and positioning of a mass in the linear direction.
When power is fed to the motor, the rotary movement of the motor is converted into linear movement
of the push/pull tube by means of the spindle/nut system.
The linear movement of the push/pull tube must be stopped by the system controls:

In the end positions.
End-switches can be integrated in the cylinder or fitted to the moving parts of the main machine.
These signal to the system controls that the end position has been reached. The axial movement must
always be stopped by the controls before the mechanical end-stops in the cylinder are reached.

In intermediate positions.
The electrical cylinder can also be stopped at defined intermediate positions by additional switches in
the cylinder or on the main machine.
