Operating Instructions RACO Path Sensors
Electronic position sensor type: EPS02
5.2.1
Introduction
The RACO positioning system has been designed especially for positioning electromechanical actua-
tors for carrying out linear movements, it is realised inductively through magnetic field coupling.
The electronic position sensor EPS02 is integrated in the additional device housing at the second end
of the motor shaft of the RACO motor or in the lateral additional box on the coupling housing (when
motors with a hand wheel or without sensor interface are used).
With type: EPS02, the two final positions are set using two buttons. In addition, the use of an external
reference switch (optional) can be activated. An LED display supports the simple set-up and provides
possibilities for checking that initialisation has been successful.
Mounting installation examples:

Function / Equipment
In the version
“EPS02”, the board has two potential-free relay contacts, an input for motor temperature
protection and an input for optional reference limit switch. If no motor temperature protection device is
active, terminal 4 and 5 have to be connected.
5.2.2.1 Temperature switch or thermistor evaluation function
For the evaluation of the temperature contact (NC contact) or the cold conductor (PTC) when the mo-
tor is overheated, the two end position relay contacts on the EPS02 are directly deactivated via the
input signal at PIN 5 (See circuit diagram).
In this case the red LED is on to signal the over temperature status.
If the motor does not have a temperature sensor, X1 PIN 4 and 5 has to be connected.
