Battery Replacement
A battery wiring diagram is printed on a decal located on the front cover.
See the specifi cation table for correct battery specifi cations.
MANDATORY! Battery posts, terminals, and related
accessories contain lead and lead compounds. Wear
goggles and gloves when handling batteries and
wash hands after handling.
WARNING! The batteries in your power chair should only be serviced
or replaced by a Quantum Rehab Provider or a qualifi ed technician.
WARNING! Do not replace batteries when seat is occupied.
WARNING! Power chair batteries are heavy. See specifi cations table. If
you are unable to lift that much weight, be sure to get help. Use proper
lifting techniques and avoid lifting beyond your capacity.
WARNING! Do not mix old and new batteries. Always replace both
batteries at the same time.
PROHIBITED! Keep tools and other metal objects away from the battery
terminals. Contact with tools can cause electrical shock.
To replace the batteries:
1. Turn off the power to the controller.
2. Make sure that the power chair is in drive mode. See “Your Power Chair.”
3. Remove the front cover by squeezing the release handles
(see fi gure 20)
and lifting the foot platform bracket up and away from the power base.
4. Disconnect the quick release battery connectors.

5. Remove the batteries.
6. Disconnect the battery harness from each battery.
7. Connect the battery harness to the new front battery according to the
battery wiring diagram.
See fi gure 20.
WARNING! Make sure you tighten the fasteners so that the connections
are secure.
8. Connect the battery harness to the new rear battery according to the
battery wiring diagram.
See fi gure 20.
9. Install the new batteries and connect the quick release battery connectors.
10. Reinstall the front cover and foot platform.
11. Charge the batteries. See “Batteries and Charging.”
