Electrostatic discharge
CAUTION
Static sensitive - Risk of damage to devices
A discharge of static electricity can damage static-sensitive
devices or micro circuitry.
Proper packaging and grounding techniques are necessary
precautions to prevent damage.
To prevent damaging the system, be aware of the precautions you need to follow when setting up the
system or handling parts. A discharge of static electricity from a finger or other conductor may damage
system boards or other static-sensitive devices. This type of damage may reduce the life expectancy of
the device.
To prevent electrostatic damage, observe the following precautions:
•
Transport products in static-safe containers such as conductive tubes, bags, or boxes.
•
Keep electrostatic-sensitive parts in their containers until they arrive at static-free
workstations.
•
Cover the library with approved static-dissipating material.
•
Provide a wrist strap connected to the work surface and properly grounded tools and
equipment.
•
Place parts on a grounded surface before removing them from their containers.
•
Keep the work area free of non-conducting materials, such as ordinary plastic assembly aids
and foam packing.
•
Make sure you are always properly grounded when touching a static-sensitive component or
assembly.
•
Avoid touching pins, leads, or circuitry.
•
Use conductive field service tools
•
If you do not have any of the suggested equipment for proper grounding, have an authorized
reseller install the part.
