configures its various operating parameters. The modem parameters configured by
the micro-controller are as follows:
RTS/CTS Delay
. Delay between when the communications port issues
an RTS (request to send) command, to when the modem returns with a
CTS (clear to send).
Local Squelch Duration
. Allows the modem to inhibit the receiver for a
period of time after the local transmitter has turned off. This prevents the
local receiver from interpreting echoes caused by the local transmission
that has just completed (used in 2-wire mode).
Carrier Detect (CD) to Receiver Enable Delay
. Prevents noise on the
line from being passed as data to the UART before the actual data
arrives.
Soft Carrier Duration
. Sets the soft carrier turn-off time. The soft carrier
turn-off is a 900 Hz tone sent prior to the transmitter shutdown after the
end of each transmission. This prevents "ringing" on the communication
line from being interpreted by the receiving modem as extra characters.
Anti-Streaming
. Prevents continuous keying of the transmitter due to a
malfunction of the 6CPP6 Central Processor Panel. After the anti-
streaming counter times out, the modem will disconnect itself from the
line by shutting down its carrier and resetting its CTS (clear-to-send) line.
It will not recognize the RTS
(request-to-send) line from the UART on the
6CPP6 Central Processor Panel until it has been reset at least once.
NOTE
Some of the above listed parameters are controlled by the program running
on the 6CPP6 central processor panel, and others are determined by the
user through table configuration software. Reference should be made to the
specific system documentation for further information.
7.2 Central Processor Panel Connections
The 6LAP5 plugs into the 6CPP6 Central Processor Panel through its two 32-pin Din
connectors labeled
JP4 and JP5
. The connectors provide power (+12Vdc, -12Vdc,
and +5Vdc) as well as all interface signals between the 6LAP5 and the Central
Processor Panel.
WARNING
The 6LAP5 is designed to connect to the 6CPP6 panel at JP4 and JP5 only.
Do not connect the 6LAP5 to JP6/JP7 or any other connectors on the
6CPP6!!!!
