7.3 Test Tone
The 6LAP5 provides an alternate Mark/Space at 1200-baud test tone from each of
the modems. This tone can be generated by removing a jumper (JP16 for modem 2
and JP15 for modem 1) from the circuit and will assist the installer to align and test
the communication channel without the use of a separate tone generator. When the
jumper is removed, the modem is switched into diagnostic mode, which will produce
the test tone.
CAUTION
Install the jumper after test. Otherwise the modem will stay in diagnostic
mode; no data will be sent or received.

The panel assembly part number is 40-057590-001. The model designation is
6LAP5-1/MODXX where MODXX = modification sheet number if required.
The 6LAP5 works with specific 6CPP6 firmware. Refer to the documentation
supplied with specific systems.
