CURVE FIT
Once sufficient measurement data are available, the CURVE FIT
option appears in the XY VIEW screen. Displayed in this screen is the
YY ellipse, a representation of angularity (X-axis) versus shaft offset
(Y-axis). If the trace is a thin ellipse centered around the X-axis
(horizontal), angularity is extreme and offset is minimal. In the case
of perfect alignment, the ellipse is reduced to a point. In the situation
shown, both angularity and offset contribute to shaft misalignment.
Based on the orientation and shape of the YY ellipse
shown here, both angularity and shaft offset can be
assumed to play a role in this shaft's alignment prob-
lems.

Horizontal machine alignment - options during measurement
Press the RAW DATA softkey to exit the CURVE FIT screen and
display the actual measurement data. Toggle back to the measure-
ment screen from the RAW DATA screen by pressing the XY VIEW
softkey.
