Please note
: Depending on the operating conditions the required air volume is between 60 to 100 l/min (4 to
6 m
3
/h). The pressure should be between 0.2 to 1.0 bar. Only oil-free and dust-free compressed air should
be used.
Connection of fiber optic cable and optical head
Please remove the protection cap at the fiber optic cable connector of the pyrometer and the optical head
just straight before the connection. Please keep the caps for a potential return.
When using an air purge unit please screw the optics in the purge unit first (if necessary wrench SW 17).
Start to roll the fiber optics cable out, beginning with the optical head side (connector without distortion-lock)
– do not pull it out of the packaging! Avoid kinks and loops as well as twists of the fiber optic cable. It is
recommended to use separate cable channels and leads to maintain the bending radii.
Arrest the fiber optic cable and note that there are no transverse forces in the near of the connector (< 250
mm). Please clamp freely suspended fiber optics cable, specifically when built in vertically, every 500 mm.
Remove protection cap and connect fiber optic cable plug with the device or the optical head (if necessary
use wrench SW 17).
Maximum torque: 0.2 to 0.5 Nm.
Please note:
When installing the fiber optic cable please note that the minimum bending radius should not
go below 120 mm (250 mm for temperatures > 50 °C)!
Initial operation of the pyrometer
Connection of the power supply
For the operation of the pyrometer PYROSPOT OKSG_L a d.c. voltage of 24 V DC ± 25 % is needed.
Connect the connection cable with the pyrometer and the power supply
(white wire
24 V DC and brown wire
0 V DC).
Please note
: Please mind the correct polarity for the specified normal operation of the pyrometer. The
device is protected against accidental reverse connection.
To meet the requirements of the electromagnetic compatibility all connecting cables should be shielded.
The shield of the connecting cable is connected at pyrometer side only. If the cable is extended the shield
has to be extended, too.
Please note:
The grounding has to be made basically at the pyrometer housing. The shield connector of the
cable must not be used for the grounding!
If there is a risk of a potential difference between optical head and pyrometer, the optical head and the fiber
optic cable have to be led isolated or an appropriate potential equalization has to be made. The fiber optics
cable itself must not be loaded with equalizing current.
