Discontinuous operation
The following installation and process measures must be
implemented if the measuring probes are not always in permanent
contact with disinfection solution but rather the probes are used in a
discontinuous process, i.e. in intermittent mode (e.g. at the rinser):
Proceed as follows if it is not possible to ensure the measuring probe
is in permanent contact with the flow of solution over night or if the
rinsing procedure is interrupted for a period of time:
•
For
very short
downtimes (over night), it is recommended to
displace the peracetic acid solution (PES) in the in-line probe
housing by water immediately after the rinsing procedure.
•
In the case of
short
downtimes (2-4 days, weekend), the peracetic
acid solution in the in-line probe housing must be replaced by
water after the rinsing procedure, the measuring chain (D1C
controller and PAA probe) remains connected to the mains power
supply! If the peracetic acid solution is not displaced by water,
gas bubbles may readily form as the solution disintegrates.
•
In the case of
longer
downtimes (4-14 days), the PES solution in
the in-line probe housing must be replaced by water and the
measuring chain (consisting of D1C controller and PAA probe)
must be disconnected from the mains power supply! Otherwise
the reference electrode may degenerate causing permanent failure
of the measuring system.
•
In the case of downtimes of
longer than 14 days
, the measuring
probe should be taken out of operation as described in Section 7
of the operating instructions.
IMPORTANT
Even if subjected to permanent flow by means of a centrifugal
pump, the measuring probe should be disconnected from the
mains power supply in the event of longer downtimes (>4 days)
as the flow over the measuring probe without peracetic acid can
result in degeneration of the reference system. Alternatively, it
is possible to follow the procedure as described above for
downtimes between 4-14 days.
