Electrical System
12 Volt Receptacle (Optional)
An optional 12-volt receptacle can be installed on the console. It is easily accessible and can be used to
charge your cell phone, operate a hand held remote spotlight, etc.
Battery Switch for Dual Batteries (Optional)
The battery switch on the 23 Walk is installed beneath the hatch that is
installed on the starboard aft jump seat. This switch is for battery isolation,
parallel operation and disconnect. Generally, you would install one dual
battery switch with a single engine application and two dual battery switches
with a twin-engine application.
The circuit breakers are installed next to the battery switch panel and are labeled aft bilge, stereo and
accessory.
•
Place all the switches in the off position.
•
Turn the ignition key on (both ignition keys for a twin engine application) and ensure that
the engine will not turn over.
•
Turn the port battery switch to the one (1) position on the switch and turn the port ignition
key to start the port engine.
•
Turn off the port engine ignition key and the port battery switch.
•
Then turn the starboard battery switch to the two (2) position on the switch and turn the
starboard ignition key to start the starboard engine.
•
Never switch battery positions while the engines are running.
To ensure that the battery switch/switches will turn off, place the switch/switches in the off position and try
to start up the engine/engines. When the switch/switches is/are off, you should not be able to start the
engine/engines.
Caution:
To avoid possible alternator/battery damage on twin-engine installations, make
sure that the dual battery switches are never left so both engines are connected together,
(i.e., never leave a switch on “BOTH” or “ALL” or “1 and 2”). The preferred switch
position is port engine to position one (1) on the port battery switch and starboard engine
to position two (2) on the starboard battery switch.
Circuit Breakers
Circuit breakers and/or fuses protect the wiring on your 23 Walk. In the event
a device stops working, check to see if the circuit breaker is tripped or if the
fuse is blown. The circuit breakers are installed in the following locations:
•
The circuit breaker panel is located next to the dual battery switch
and is accessible via the hatch installed on the starboard aft jump
seat. The main breaker (30 amp) is installed at the bottom of the
circuit breaker panel.
•
Breakers and/or fuses for the aft bilge, stereo and accessory are
installed above the main breaker.
•
Additional breaker switches are also located on the switch panel
beneath the individual switches. See the Switch and Breaker Panel
information later in this section for additional information.
