CIRAS-2 Settings for Leaf Cuvettes and Probes
For CIRAS-2 to work correctly with the various types of cuvettes, the CIRAS-2 control parameters must
set up accordingly. These values are listed in Appendix 1.
Parameter values are dimensionless with the exception of LAR (leaf area) (cm

), Rb (boundary layer) (m

).
The Rb values are typical for the cuvette type, but the specific factory-determined value for your cuvette is
recorded on the cuvette handle. The flow values are general recommendations for that type of cuvette,
but may be altered for specific circumstances.
The area values should be set to the proper values, the values listed are to ensure that a typical value is
used in the calculations.
SUN, LED, and QI refer to the type of light incident on the leaf. SUN values should be used under normal
daylight, LED with the PP Systems LED light unit and with any fluorescent lights and QI with any
incandescent lamps or quartz halogen bulbs.
If you are using PLC4 (B/R) or PLC5 (N) (C/P) with a CIRAS-2, then use the settings that are listed for
these cuvettes when used with CIRAS-2-1

The default setting of AVLIMIT is 30 (=3ppm) for all the above.

When using
CLOSED SYSTEMS
, the PROBETYPE should be set to 1 and the AVLIMIT to 1.0.
When the PROBETYPE is set to 1 or 2, the PARX value should be set to 2. PAR will then be correctly
output with RH/T/PAR sensors. For Oxygen, 30% will be equal to a PAR reading of 3000.
