Safety Instructions
1. This Instruction Manual contains important safety instructions. Please keep it safe for future reference.
2. This battery charger is only designed to charge 6/12V lead-acid batteries. Do not attempt to charge batteries
of other types such as sealed lead acid, gel batteries or NI-CAD.
3. The charger is designed only to be powered from a domestic power outlet which is reliably connected to the
building’s ground point. If the supply cable needs to be extended, ensure the gauge of the wire is of a
sufficient size for the supply of current over the distance required.
4. Immediately discontinue use of charger if it is dropped or otherwise damaged in any way. Do not dismantle
the charger. If repairs are required, these must be performed by a qualified technician. Incorrect reassembly
may result in a fire hazard and/or electric shock. Always disconnect the charger from any connected battery
and the power supply prior to cleaning the casing.
5. When connecting the charger always connect the positive terminal first. The other connection is to be made
to the chassis or the negative terminal. Lastly connect the battery charger to the power supply. Once charging
is complete, disconnect the battery charger from the power supply first, then remove the negative connection
followed by the positive connection.
6. During charging, batteries give off some hydrogen and oxygen creating a highly explosive mix. Ensure
adequate ventilation exists and avoid sparks and smoking.
7. During battery maintenance ensure adequate clean water is available in the event of an acid spill. The liquid
inside batteries is highly corrosive therefore ensure that it is not allowed to make contact with the skin
(especially eyes). In the event of contact, flush the area with clean water and immediately consult a doctor.
8. Lead-acid batteries store a large amount of energy. Short circuiting the battery or charger terminals will
cause the battery to try and release this energy immediately which can result in fire or personal injury.
Prevent any metal object (or other conductive material) from touching the + and – polarities of the charger
or battery terminals at the same time.

Functional Characteristics
1. Secondary phase-shifting, conducting and constant-current control of transformer.
2. Indications of four levels of estimated battery capacity (25% 50% 75% FULL.)
3. Thermometric self-adjusting starting interval control circuit (with the increase of starting times, starting time
can be automatically decreased and interval increased.)
4. Overheating and over current protection of transformer (one self-resetting thermal cut-out built-in to the
primary winding of the transformer will cut off power when the transformer temperature exceeds 220°F
(105°C) or is over current rating. It will automatically reset when transformer temperature is lower than
approximately 175°F (80°C) and current is lower than the rated current.
5. Output short circuit and overload protection (Output voltage monitor circuit is set up to cut off the output
current when the load is short-circuited or overloaded. The circuit will recover the output automatically as
soon as the load is connected correctly.
6. Indication and protection of reverse connection of battery.
