OPERATION
NOTE: Although the charger is overload, short circuit and polarity reversal protected; the following
basic battery charger procedures should still be followed.
1. Turn the current switch on the charger to the desired charge rate for the battery
being charged.
2. Clamp the red clip of the charger to the positive (+) polarity post of the battery, and the black
clip to the negative (-) polarity post, and confirm that the connection is correct.
3. Connect the battery charger to the power supply.
4. Check the charger indicator light to ensure the correct connections. The charger will not start
unless it is hooked up correctly.
NOTE: The charger is designer to charge 12 volt batteries only. It will not function as a source of
12 volt power. It will not produce a spark if the positive (+) and negative (-) clamps are touched
together nor will it give a reading if it is hooked to a multi-tester or volt meter. The charger will
not operate unless the initial battery voltage is above 7 volts. This is normal. The built in safety
features of short circuit and polarity reversal protection will not allow the charger to start unless it
is correctly connected to a 12 volt battery.
