System Overview
1.1 Introduction
Industries hungry the increasing computing power of Core 2 Duo processor on
single host board computer for a long time. That’s why Portwell presented LGA775
processor with SHB form factor just now with Intel
®
latest Core 2 Quad processors.
ROBO-8779VG2AR, a PICMG 1.0 PCI/ISA single host board adopts Intel
®
G41 and
ICH7R chipset that supports up to Intel
®
1,333MHz FSB Core 2 Quad processor and
4GB DDR3-1066 system memory. G41 equipped Intel
®
integrated Graphics Media
Accelerator GMA X4500, that supports DirectX10, Shader Model* 4.0 and OpenGL*
2.0.
ROBO-8779VG2AR supports dual Gigabit Ethernet port, four SATA 300 ports, eight
USB 2.0 ports, dual serial port, one parallel port, and one Compact Flash socket (up
to UDMA 5 mode), GPIO and Watchdog timer as usual. However, some functions
are evolved with higher bandwidth such like PCI Express x1 interface Gigabit
Ethernet compares to PCI, SATA 300 rather than SATA 150. ISA expansion of ROBO-
8779VG2AR is building as standard function.
In addition, ROBO-8779VG2AR supports multiple displays, such as VGA port up
to 2048 x 1536 resolution, one DVI-D port and flexible SDVO connector for other
type display via an optional daughter card. It can let users have the other kind of
choice for display output.
