Porsche Dynamic Light System
Plus (PDLS Plus)
Fig. 90: Camera position
High beam assistant
When High Beam Assistant is switched on, a camera
A
detects the light sources of oncoming vehicles and
vehicles in front, and automatically selects between
low beam and high beam.
The function activates in darkness if the following
conditions are present:
b
The light switch setting
is selected.
b
The speed is over approx. 40 mph (60 km/h).
b
High beam assistant is activated on the multi-
function display.
f
Please see chapter „Activating and deacti-
vating the high beam assistant“ on page 243.
b
High beam assistant is switched on.
f
Please see chapter „Activating the high beam“
on page 123.
To prevent the use of full high beam in residential
areas, the high beam assistant is not available at
speeds below approx. 20 mph (35 km/h).
In addition, the lights automatically switch from full
high beam to low beam as soon as the camera has
detected two or more street lamps.
f
For information on car care: Please see chapter
„Car Care“ on page 59.
WARNING
Lack of Attention
Despite the high beam assistant, responsibility for
manually adjusting the high beam to the light,
visibility and traffic conditions when driving remains
with the driver. The system does not replace the
driver's attentiveness. Manual intervention may be
required in the following situations:
– In unfavorable weather conditions, such as rain,
fog, snow, ice, heavy spray.
– On streets where oncoming traffic is party
hidden, e.g., freeways.
– When encountering poorly lit road users, e.g.
cyclists.
– On narrow bends, steep crests or hollows.
– In poorly lit areas.
– When encountering strong reflectors, e.g. road
signs.
– If the windshield is obscured by mist, dirt, ice or
stickers in the area of the camera.
e
Particular attentiveness is required while driving.
e
Always pay attention to the traffic conditions and
the vehicle surroundings.
e
If necessary, manually adjust the high beam to
the light, visibility and traffic conditions.
Information
e
To avoid impairing the detection performance of
the camera:
Do not cover the camera area on the interior
mirror (see Fig. 90) with objects (e.g. stickers).
e
Always keep the camera free of dirt, ice and snow
so that it is always fully functional.
