TROUBLESHOOTING
Contact your Polaris dealer for service if you’re unable to identify
solutions using the following charts.
Engine Doesn’t Turn Over
Possible Cause
Solution
Blown fuse
Replace fuse
Low battery voltage
Recharge battery to 12.5 VDC
Loose battery connections
Check all connections and tighten
Loose solenoid connections
Check all connections and tighten
Engine Turns Over, Fails to Start
Possible Cause
Solution
Out of fuel
Refuel
Clogged fuel valve or filter
Inspect and clean or replace
Water is present in fuel
Drain the fuel system and refuel
Fuel valve is turned off
Turn the fuel valve on
Old or non-recommended fuel
Replace with new fuel
Fouled or defective spark plug(s)
Inspect plug(s), replace if necessary
No spark to spark plug
Inspect plug(s), verify stop switch is on
Crankcase filled with water or fuel
Immediately see your Polaris dealer
Overuse of choke
Inspect, clean and/or replace spark plugs
Clogged fuel filter
Replace the filter
Low battery voltage
Recharge battery to 12.5 VDC
Mechanical failure
See your Polaris dealer
Engine Pings or Knocks
Possible Cause
Solution
Poor quality or low octane fuel
Replace with recommended fuel
Incorrect ignition timing

Incorrect spark plug gap or heat range
Set gap to specs or replace plugs
Idle set too low
Adjust idle speed
