Battery booster
Some caravans have a Battery Booster installed for more
effective charging from the car. The Booster is located in
a wardrobe along with the caravan’s battery. The supply is
coming from the generator in the car and will raise the
charge voltage for charging the battery. The charging
begin when the car is starting.
In the front of the battery booster is a yellow diode lamp
placed, which lights during the charging.
Near to the battery booster there is two 20 A fuses mounted
.

All caravans are equipped with an automatic 17 A bat-
tery charger. The charger is usually located in a wardrobe
along with the caravan’s battery. The fact that the charger
is automatic means that when the battery is fully charged,
the charger goes into maintenance charging.
The charger is also used during winter connection if the
instructions in the section ”
Winter connection function
”
on page 47 are followed.
The caravan’s battery can also be charged from the car’s alternator
if a 13-pins electrical connector is installed on the car. If charging
does not work, contact an authorized car repair shop to control
that the 13-pin connector of the car is properly connected.
The caravans are equipped with a temperature sensor to pre-
vent overheating during charging. The temperature sensor is
located on the negative cable in the battery box.
During charging, the charging process shows with a LED
on the charger’s panel.
Using the battery charger:
- Select the battery type
”Standard”
(1) or
”Power supply”
(3) with the
”Mode”
button (2).
”Power supply”
mode
has an output voltage of 13.7 V.
- The charging begins after a few seconds and the indication,
yellow LED
is lit up. The charger will restart with the
same setting if the mains voltage is interrupted..
- The charging phases is indicated by the LED bar.
- When only the
green LED
is lit, the battery is ready
to use and the charger switches to maintenance charging
and remains in this phase until the mains supply is
disconnected.
-
Red LED
is lit up when an error occurs.
Restarting the charger is done by breaking and then con-
nect the mains voltage or disconnect and then reconnect
the battery.
When charging the battery, explosive gas is
generated. Avoid sparks or fire in the vicinity
of the battery.

NOTE!!
For ordinary wet batteries that we have in the
caravans the charger will be set to
”Standard”
so that the
correct charge algorithm is used (see arrow 1). When the
charger enters the final two charging phases so retains the
charger the power consumption that was in the previous
charging phase. If the power consumption, for example,
was three amps before the last two phases, the charger
will not give more than three amps in this phases. If you
then turn on more consumers (lights) it may happen that
lighs goes out.
The thing to do when you are in the caravan and use the
consumers, is to press the
”Mode”
button (see arrow 2) so
that the LED at the
”Power supply”
lights up (see arrow 3).
It will not peak charge the battery in this situation but the
consumers always get enough power.
When leaving the caravan, set the charger on the
”Standard”
again. The power must be turned on to set the charger.
