Troubleshooting: General
Symptom Possible
Causes
Solutions
Tray is locked by
mastering software.
Refer to application documentation
on how to unlock the eject feature.
Cannot eject tray.
CD was not properly
set into tray and is
stuck.
Turn OFF the PlexWriter’s power.
Then, at the PlexWriter’s front
panel, insert a thin object such as
the emergency stick or a paper clip
into the emergency eject hole and
eject the tray.

Symptom Possible
Causes
Solutions
Defective CD-ROM,
CD-R, or CD-RW disc.
A fingerprint,
contaminants, or
scratches on the disc’s
surface may prevent
the drive from reading
or writing data.
Clean the disc as detailed on page
18.
Try a different disc.
Disc is badly
manufactured.
Try a different disc.
Bad connection
between the PlexWriter
drive and the computer.
Make sure the USB cable is
securely connected to the
computer and the PlexWriter.
Inspect the USB cable for any
signs of distress, such as kinking.
Disc is inserted upside
down.
Eject the disc and load it with the
label or text side up.
PlexWriter drive
has read errors,
may not respond
when accessed
from My
Computer or
Explorer, or
cannot run a
program.
Blank CD-R or CD-RW
disc is inside the drive.
Remove the disc from the drive
and test the drive by using another
disc.
