2. Adjust the temperature set point of the heater if desired. The factory default setting is
180
o
F
. If changes
are necessary, follow, “Adjusting the Set point”, below.
3. Set the thermostat to create a demand for heat.
4. If the appliance fails to start, refer to the Troubleshooting section in the back of this manual.
B. CASCADE SYSTEM
1. If the heater is used alone, skip this section.
2. Programming the Master Heater
a. Make sure there is no demand for heat being supplied to the heater.
b. Apply power to the heater.
c. Enter the Installer Menu following instructions in Part 11 of this manual.
d. Verify that parameter 15 is set to 0. This makes the Master Heater address 0.
NOTE:
The Master Heater MUST be addressed as 0.
e. Set parameter 23 from 0 to 1. This makes this heater the Master Heater.
f. Exit the installer menu.
NOTE:
The temperature set point of the Master must match the follower heater set point in order for the
system to operate properly.
3. Follower Heaters
NOTE:
READ THE NOTES BELOW BEFORE PROGRAMMING FOLLOWER HEATERS:
•
The heater addressed as 1 will share its alarm output with the Master Heater.
•
If one of the follower heaters has an indirect fired water heater connected to it, the address of this
heater must be 2 or greater.
•
It is recommended but not necessary to address heaters in the order that they are wired.
•
No two heaters can have the same address.
•
It is not required to use all consecutive address numbers. Example: In a 2 heater system with an
indirect connected to the follower, the follower address would be 2 (address 1 not used).
4. To program follower heater(s):
a. Make sure there is no demand for heat being supplied to the Master Heater.
b. Apply power to the follower heater you are working on.
c. Enter the installer Menu following instructions in part 11 of this manual.
d. Set parameter 15 to 1 for the first follower, 2 for the second follower, etc. depending on which
heater you are programming.
e. Take into account the notes above and set parameter 23 to desired appliance address.
f. Exit the installer menu.
NOTE:
The temperature set point of the follower must match the Master Heater set point in order for the
system to operate properly.
C. ADJUSTING THE SET POINT
Before you change the temperature from the factory setting of 180
o
, make sure that none of the
thermostats are calling for heat. The controller will not memorize a
program setting while in a heating
cycle.
