ADVANCED SETTINGS
Changing Modem Settings
If you connect your digital receiver to a telephone line you might need to change the settings in this
menu. However in most cases, the factory settings will be correct.
MODEM
This option is used to specify whether you are using the digital receiver's internal modem or an
external modem.
DIALLING
This option is used to specify whether the telephone line is a tone or pulse dialling line. Most
domestic telephones now use tone dialling. If you do not know which type of telephone line you
have, check with your telephone company.
CONNECTION
This option only needs to be changed to the alternative "pabx" setting if the digital receiver is
connected to a phone line that requires that a prefix be dialled first to access the outside telephone
network. Most residential telephones have a direct connection, in which case this option does not
need to be changed.
PREFIX
This option is only available when "pabx" was selected in the previous option "Connection." Enter
the prefix the digital receiver will have to dial to connect to the outside telephone network.
WAIT FOR DIAL TONE
This option is only available when "pabx" was selected in the "Connection" option. Set the pause
that is required for the time after dialling the prefix until a dial tone is received.
STD CODE
This is used to specify whether or not an STD code must always be dialled by the digital receiver.
PREFIX
This option is used to enter the code when using an STD code has been selected.
To change these settings, press the MENU button,
select option 4 (viewing preferences) and then op-
tion 3 (modem settings).
