ADVANCED SETTINGS
1) Preferred language
The preferred language default setting when the power is first turned on is English. The other
language options are Welsh and Gaelic. To change the language use the
2
(LEFT) or
3
(RIGHT)
buttons. If a selected language is not available, the digital receiver will automatically default to
English.
2) Subtitles
Selecting "on" will ensure that subtitles will always be displayed if they are available. Select "off"
if you want to be able to manually switch subtitles on and off using the
SUBTITLE
button.
3) Subtitles language
This option allows users to select the language in which subtitles are displayed. The available
language selections are English, Welsh, Gaelic. A setting is also provided for those who are hard
of hearing and this is indicated by a symbol next to the language. When this setting is selected
descriptive text, which tells the viewer there is applause, laughter, etc., is included in the sub-
titles.
A symbol denoting when subtitles are available for a programme may be displayed on the on-
screen tv guide. A message regarding subtitle availability might also be displayed by the broad-
caster.
4) TV volume
This option is used to set the default sound output level of the TV for when the digital receiver
wakes up. Initially the sound output is set to a medium level, but there might be a difference in
sound level between digital channels and analogue channels.
To adjust the digital receiver volume, highlight this option and then use the
2
(LEFT) or
3
(RIGHT)
buttons to set the desired sound volume.
5) Information display time
This option is used to set the length of time information is displayed on the screen. This time
setting only applies to screens in which setting adjustments are not made (such as channel
selection). Three time setting options are available: Off, Normal, and Long.
IMPORTANT:
Some menus will no longer appear if this option is set to OFF.
6) Current time and date
The digital receiver automatically sets the time and date using the time and date information
sent by the broadcasters. This menu can be used, however, to manually adjust these settings.
Enter the desired date and time in the 24-hour format using the number (0 to 9) buttons.
7) Timer alarm
This option is used to specify whether an audio and visual or just a visual alarm is used for the
timer alarm. The alarm is factory set to the audio and visual alarm, so a warning message will be
displayed at the alarm setting time. At the alarm setting time the digital receiver will beep and
display the code "rEd" on the LED panel. Refer to pages 36 to 39 for additional information on
timer operation.
