About Control Function with
HDMI
The functions wo r k when a cont r ol function with HDMI-
com p atible Pionee r Flat Sc r een TV o r AV system (AV
r eceive r o r am p lifie r , etc.) is connected to the p laye r using
an HDMI cable.
Also r efe r to the o p e r ating inst r uctions fo r the Flat Sc r een
TV and AV system (AV r eceive r o r am p lifie r , etc.).

To use the control function with
HDMI
• The cont r ol function with HDMI o p e r ates when
cont r ol function with HDMI is set to On fo r all devices
connected with HDMI cables.
• Once the connections and the settings of all the
devices a r e finished, be su r e to check that the p laye r ’s
p ictu r e is out p ut to the Flat Sc r een TV. (Also check
afte r changing the connected devices and
r econnecting HDMI cables.) The cont r ol function with
HDMI may not o p e r ate pr o p e r ly if the p laye r ’s p ictu r e
is not pr o p e r ly out p ut to the Flat Sc r een TV.
• Use High S p eed HDMI
®
Cables when using the
cont r ol function with HDMI. The cont r ol function with
HDMI may not o p e r ate pr o p e r ly if othe r HDMI cables
a r e used.
• Fo r some models, the cont r ol function with HDMI
may be r efe rr ed to as “KURO LINK” o r “HDMI
Cont r ol”.
• The cont r ol function with HDMI does not wo r k with
devices of othe r b r ands, even if this p laye r is
connected with an HDMI cable.
 What the control function with
HDMI can do
• Outputting the optimum picture quality to a Flat
Screen TV compatible with the control function
with HDMI.
When the cont r ol function with HDMI is enabled,
video signals with the o p timum p ictu r e quality fo r
cont r ol function with HDMI a r e out p ut f r om the
p laye r ’s HDMI te r minal.
• Operating the player with the Flat Screen TV’s
remote control.
Such p laye r o p e r ations as sta r ting and sto pp ing
p layback and dis p laying the menus can be p e r fo r med
f r om the Flat Sc r een TV.
• The player’s playback picture is displayed on the
Flat Screen TV’s screen. (Auto-select function)
The in p ut switches automatically on the Flat Sc r een
TV and AV system (AV r eceive r o r am p lifie r , etc.) when
p layback is sta r ted on the p laye r o r the HOME MENU
is dis p layed. When the in p ut is switched, the p layback
p ictu r e, the HOME MENU a pp ea r s on the Flat Sc r een
TV.
• The power of the Flat Screen TV and the player
turns on and off automatically. (Simultaneous
power function)
When p layback on the p laye r is sta r ted o r the HOME
MENU is dis p layed, if the Flat Sc r een TV’s p owe r was
off, its p owe r tu r ns on automatically. When the Flat
Sc r een TV’s p owe r is tu r ned off, the p laye r ’s p owe r
automatically tu r ns off. (The p owe r does not tu r n off
automatically if a disc o r file is p laying on the p laye r
o r the p laye r ’s o p e r ation sc r een is dis p layed on the
Flat Sc r een TV.)

About Sound Retriever Link
Sound Ret r ieve r Link is a sound quality co rr ection cont r ol
technology that automatically adjusts the com pr essed
sound quality fo r the connected AV r eceive r using HDMI
cont r ol function.
Sound Ret r ieve r Link function allows you to enjoy highe r
quality audio by setting the connected AV r eceive r ’s
Sound Ret r ieve r function automatically.
Sound Ret r ieve r Link function on this p laye r wo r ks
exclusively with the following situations.
• PC Audio St r eam that is p layed by USB devices o r via
netwo r k.
• The Pionee r AV r eceive r com p atible with Sound
Ret r ieve r Link function is connected to this p laye r
th r ough an HDMI cable and the p laye r ’s setting is set
as shown below ( p age 41).

Caution
• Connect the p laye r di r ectly to the Pionee r AV r eceive r
com p atible with Sound Ret r ieve r Link function.
Inte rr u p ting a di r ect connection with an am p lifie r o r
AV conve r te r (such as an HDMI switch) can cause
malfunction.
